New York City. The sun is rising, store owners are raising the shutters to their shops, some are washing down the side walk with a water hose, the garbage truck is making its way through the streets and sun raise are lighting up the city.
Cut – a beautiful girl walks out of Starbucks with a cup of coffee in her hand and a smile on her face greeting people as she continues walking down the street.
It all looks so idyllic and something tells us that that’s the life we want. What we don’t realize is; this girl just had a rough night, might have worked through the night and a thousand thoughts are racing through her mind about all the things she needs to get done today as she is walking down the street. She doesn’t have time to stop a moment, breathe and realize the beauty of the morning, the smile on her face is an exhausted one she just does because it’s something you do when you see people in the morning.
You might think “Well, if I was there I would definitely enjoy the moment and that life style, because I wouldn’t let myself get that busy.”. Are you sure? What about now, this very moment? Do you enjoy your job? Do you enjoy your lifestyle? Are you taking time to enjoy unique and/or every day things. Do you have the ability and are you making the choice to see beauty in every moment? What about the statement ‘rejoice for this is the day the Lord has made’? Let me paraphrase this sentence; ‘Enjoy this moment, it’s a moment that is not going last forever and soon it’s gone with the wind’.
You were created and put on this earth not to work yourself to death, but to enjoy every day life. It’s a choice that not many of us have made to walk in. Busyness is a word too well known in our society. “I’m too busy; can I call you back later?!” or “I can’t make it to the dinner tonight, what about another time?” – These are sentences that come off our lips too quickly. We don’t even think about it anymore. What about relationships? What about commitment? What about love? Words we hardly know anymore..
Our society is falling apart because the first and foremost commandment is neglected without any further concern- LOVE!
If you look at history it has never hurt anyone to take time and nurture a relationship, to stop a moment to just tell a person how much you love her or him, to drop a note of appreciation. We think we’re so smart with all our degrees and diplomas and the dozens of books stacked up on our bookshelves at home. But let’s be honest; did we really read all of them? Did we take the advice of wise people to heart? Don’t misunderstand me. I believe education is a good think, we ought to increase our knowledge, we ought to rise up in the economy of this planet. I do believe we all have the right intentions that go with it too. But what when we reach our goal, when we reach the top, when we are so successful and look back? What will we see? Did we take our time and love on people? Did we let people love on us or did we let everyday life get too busy to see what really mattered? Did our work, our success take over our lives so much that we built a wall around our hearts so no one can hurt us?
I want you to be successful, I want you to prosper and above all I want you to experience love, true love like you have never experienced before. No matter where you are at in your career, relationships, and overall life , it is never too late to stop, reconsider and renew your mind. I want to encourage you to not be so busy to forget to live and experience true love.
